On July 31, 2018, at 12:26 a.m., Officer Matthew Belcastro, assisted by Officer Wayne Shivers, arrested Sean Reidy, age 53 from Chatham Borough, New Jersey for possession of drug paraphernalia. Officer Shivers observed Mr. Reidy operating a red Jeep on Main Street. Officer Shivers was aware that Mr. Reidy’s driver’s license is suspended and alerted Officer Belcastro who initiated a motor vehicle stop. A customary check confirmed that Mr. Reidy’s license was suspended.

While speaking with Mr. Reidy, the officers observed items that are commonly used to ingest narcotics. Officers obtained a consent to search the vehicle and discovered the paraphernalia. Mr. Reidy was transported to police headquarters for processing. He was issued a complaint summons for possession of drug paraphernalia; a motor vehicle summons for driving while suspended and a motor vehicle summons for driving with an expired driver’s license. Mr. Reidy was released on his own recognizance pending a court appearance.

All persons charged with an offense are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
