CASINO ROYALE was the place to be on Friday, April 21 as Chatham Education Foundation (CEF) celebrated its 20th anniversary.

Past and present trustees kicked off the evening at Fairmount Country Club with a champagne toast to all the work that has been done, and to energize the board for the coming year. The toast was followed by an evening of friends, food and casino gaming which, judging from the packed tables, periodic squeals of joy, and enthusiastic purchase of gaming chips, was a HUGE hit.

A successful event like this does not happen without the support of the community. The Chatham Education Foundation would like to thank the community for their generous support of Casino Royale.  The sold out event, by all measures, was a wonderful success!  With proceeds of over $93,000, CEF's Casino Royale was our largest single fundraising event in years.  With an increase in administrator and teacher requests for technology and classroom equipment, funds raised will go a long way in facilitating 21st century learning and preparing our Chatham school children for the future.

Casino Royale featured a Scotch and Bourbon tasting, along with a colorful cocktail provided by Main Street Wine Cellars of Madison. Mexican Spice and Daddy Matty’s, both with new storefronts inside Main Street Wine Cellars for take-out meals, provided some of the wide variety of food available. River Grille brought their amazing Lobster Mac and Bruschetta. The mouth-watering pulled pork sliders from the Fairmount Country Store are a must for a summer gathering or graduation party. Marie’s Italian Deli served her signature sandwiches for those who wanted to quickly get back to the casino tables, while Sally Tracy Cake in Madison designed a beautiful and delicious casino-themed 20th anniversary cake.

Local merchants and vendors donated over 61 casino prizes and over 80 silent auction items. The top casino prizes included a $1000 organic cotton bedding makeover from Boll & Branch, a trip to Antigua, and Macy’s gift cards. The hottest auction items were tickets to see Hamilton on Broadway, and vacations in Antigua and Stone Harbor. As a fun bonus, District Superintendent Michael LaSusa donated two dozen eggs from his chickens, farm to table style. Each school principal donated a fun school experience, ranging from principal for a day to lunch with the principal to show their support.

The CEF Board of Trustees would like to thank our CASINO ROYALE underwriters led by our Premier Platinum Sponsor StormHarbour and our Platinum Sponsor Investors Bank. We are also proud to have had our largest group of Gold Sponsors ever: Debbie Woerner Team/Coldwell Banker, Mary Weichert/Weichert Realtors, Argent Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning, and Jag Physical Therapy.   Many of our Silver and Bronze Sponsors are long time underwriters and we appreciate their support year after year. Thanks to:  Boll & Branch, Dr. Robert Rosen, Dr. Howard Kotkin, TSS, Friday & Alcorn Team/Keller Williams Realty, Hickory Tree Landscaping, Lavallette Capital, Taylor Made Furnished Apartments, Chatham Orthodontics, Chatham Wealth Management, Siegel Architects, Kitchen Intuitions.

Many of these Sponsors also contributed fantastic Silent Auction and Casino Prize items. We cannot thank Chatham Print and Design enough for such a beautiful program, Quad Jobs for providing extra hands at the event to help run the Money Wheel and our wonderful photographer and Silent Auction contributor, Christopher Routh.  We also appreciate Our Friends at ShopRite, Community Pass, Dr. DeFabio Chiropractic and Physique Swim for supporting the event.
