CHATHAM, NJ - The Chatham High football team will be going back to school early this year.

The Cougars will officially begin their 2017 season practice on Monday, Aug. 14, by training and sleeping at Chatham High School.

"The football team will be spending a night at CHS as part of a team-building experience," Chatham Superintendent Dr. Michael LaSusa said.  "The head coach decided that instead of involving the team in an overnight camp or trip, as some of our teams or activities do from time to time, the football team instead would come together for a sleep away experience in Chatham, utilizing the gymnasium and cafeteria.

"I am hopeful that it is a positive bonding experience for the team and sets a good tone for the new season."

Head coach Jason Izsa also has reorganized his staff by switching Steve Trivino from offensive coordinator to defensive coordinator and moving Joe Sullivan into the offensive coordinator position.

Chatham opens its season Saturday, Sept. 9 with a 2 p.m. home game at Cougar Field vs. Barringer.
