Chatham Girl Scouts hosted an evening ceremony on June 13th at the Fish and Game Club to honor 35 Chatham Middle School Girl Scouts, who earned the Silver Award Pin. Approximately 200 guests gathered to celebrate the scouts' accomplishments and to hear about their community service projects..
The Silver Award Pin is the highest award for Cadettes. These scouts combined completed a minimum of 1,500 hours of community service to support a variety of local organizations.
Among those in attendance at the ceremony were Chatham Borough Mayor Bruce Harris and Chatham Township Mayor Curt Ritter, Lorena Kirschner of the Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey, Vicki Fife of the Chatham Borough Council, Amy Crandall, Vice President of the Chatham Historical society (and GS Gold Award recipient), Richard “Ranger Rich” Sofie, and Darren Groh, Principal at Chatham High School. Also in attendance were Laura Ranji and Susannah Doherty, the current CHatham GS Service Unit Managers and Kay Aprea, a former Service Unit Manager and current Treasurer.
