Chatham Girls Lacrosse Rally Falls Short in 11-10 State Tournament Sectional Semifinal Loss to Mendham

MENDHAM, NJ - Chatham made a late bid to tie the game, but Mendham held on for an 11-10 girls lacrosse victory on Tuesday in the semifinal round of the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 3 state tournament.

Mendham (14-6) built an 11-6 lead before Chatham (8-10) rallied behind two goals from Haley Riabov and one goal from Paige Guenther, cutting the deficit to 11-9. Riabov's ground ball preceded Ann Francesco's goal off a pass from Frances Workman that pulled the Lady Cougars to within 11-10 in the closing minutes.

Senior goalie Kat Friday ended with 10 saves for Chatham, which received two goals from Grace Coe, and two goals and an assist apiece from Guenther and Riabov.

Lizzie O'Neill also scored a goal for Chatham, which got a goal and two assists from Workman.
