Chatham Hills Celebrates Louise Ammerman's 100th Birthday

CHATHAM, NJ - Louise Marie Ammerman, a Chatham Hills resident since 2013, celebrated her 100th birthday on Thursday.

Ammerman, whose maiden name is Henning, was born on March 9, 1917. She grew up in Morristown and worked in New York and East Hanover.

She was married for 64 years to Walter Ammerman. On April 15, 1950 they had their one and only daughter, Barbara.

Ammerman went to Berkeley Secretarial School and later become a teller at 5th Avenue Bank in Manhattan. She then became an executive secretary for 36 years in East Hanover.

She had many hobbies and loved to read, crochet and swim. A member many different clubs, Ammerman also loved to travel. She has visited 46 states and 12 countries.

F.M. Kirby Children’s Center of the Madison Area YMCA Students and Campers Watch the Solar Eclipse

At the F.M. Kirby Children’s Center of the Madison Area YMCA, students and Camp Wantago campers had the opportunity to witness the rare and exciting phenomenon of the solar eclipse. The Center live-streamed the eclipse in the gymnasium and projected it on a movie screen so that everyone could safely watch. The children were in awe of this scientific wonder!
