Chatham Hurdler Kirton Repeats as Group 3 State Champion; Meet of Champions Next

COLUMBUS, NJ - Chatham senior Simone Kirton won the gold medal for the second straight year in the 100-meter high hurdles at the NJSIAA Group 3 state meet held over the weekend at Northern Burlington Regoinal High School.

Kirton placed first in 14.14 and will compete in the NJSIAA Meet of Champions on Saturday.

Chatham's 4x800 girls relay team of Kate Purshcke, Nicole Smizaski, Abbie Bigham and Moira Horan) ran a season-best time of 10:02.27 at the Group 3 meet. The team broke their time from last week by 10 seconds.

Each member of the 4x800 team ran their best time of the season. Smizaski's split was 2:28; Birgham ran 2:34; Horan clocked 2:32, and Purschke anchored in a 2:26. The team placed 12th overall.
