Chatham Hurdler Kirton Wins Group 3 Girls Track Crown; Sets School Mark

COLUMBUS, NJ - Chatham junior Simone Kirton won the gold medal in the 100-meter high hurdles with a school-record time of 14.55 on Saturday at the NJSIAA Group 3 track meet held at Northern Burlington High School.

Kirton broke her own school record in winning the race for her first-ever individual state championship. She will move on to compete in the event at the Meet of Champions set for Wednesday at Central Regional High School in Bayville.

Chatham senior Rashida Haye also had an excellent meet, making it to the finals of the 100-meter high hurdles and placing eighth overall with a personal-best time of 15.69.

The Chatham girls 4x100-meter relay team of Rashida Haye, Leila Kirton, Julia Shehadi and Simone Kirton also ran a noteworthy race in 51.59, placing 18th overall.
