The Parcells Council of the Knights of Columbus of Chatham, New Jersey will conduct the 41st Annual Appalachian Toy Drive at Chatham Moving and Storage, 223 North Passaic Ave., Chatham on Friday, Nov. 15 and Saturday, Nov. 16 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Each year since the drive’s inception in 1979, the Chatham community and its churches sends comfort and hope tucked in with new and used toys, clothing for children and adults, housewares, blankets, sheets, towels, children’s books and paperbacks, and small appliances to the underprivileged in Appalachia. (Items in special need this year: Kids clothing and new or used toys in good condition.) These items will be received at Chatham Moving and Storage Friday, Nov. 15, beginning at 8 a.m. and ending at 11 a.m. and again on Saturday, Nov.16, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., packed and loaded by Knights of Columbus, Boy and Girl Scouts, Chatham High School Key Club members, the St Patrick’s Youth Ministry and numerous other volunteers into a 48-foot moving van donated by the Sacco Family, owners of Chatham Moving and Storage.

“The incredible outpouring of generosity from the locals each year never fails to amaze me,” said Toy Drive Chairman Len Walczyk, a past-Grand Knight of the Parcells Council. “You cannot believe how fast that 48-foot moving van fills up, so tightly packed with the donated clothes and toys.”
