Chatham Places Second in State Sectional X-Country Meet

MORRIS PLAINS, NJ - Will Mitchell ran 16:05 for his best time of the year and Grant Hauck clocked 16:38 as Chatham placed second behind Summit in the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 2, Group 3 Sectional held Saturday at Greystone.

Summit won over Chatham, 30-55. Chatham will compete in the Group 3 meet at Holmdel next weekend in hopes of qualifying for the Meet of Champions.

Mitchell was fourth and Hauck placed sixth in the race to pace the Cougars. The other top Chatham runners were: Liam Hynes, 11th in 16:48; Kevin Gesell, 12th in a personal-best 16:49; Pat Mortensen, 22nd in 17:11; Colin Logsdon, 31st in 17:33; David Flynn, 49th in 18:10.
