Chatham Police Charge Hackettstown Woman with Assault with a Deadly Weapon

CHATHAM, NJ - A Hackettstown woman was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after Chatham Township Police were called to a River Road residence with an "assault in progress" on Monday night.

On Jan. 25 at 7:44 p.m., Chatham Township officers were dispatched to a residence in the 800 block of River Road for an assault in progress. When the officers arrived, they found the female homeowner bleeding, and the interior of the home with extensive damage.

The suspect, Shi Feng-Bartner, age 53 of Hackettstown, was found in the home holding a metal cylinder used in the attack. Failing to comply with the orders of the officers, she was quickly subdued and placed under arrest.

The suspect, a family friend, was transported to Morristown Medical Center by the Chatham Emergency Squad for a psychiatric evaluation.

Feng-Bartner was charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and one count of Criminal Mischief.

The victim was transported to Overlook Medical Center for treatment of her injuries and later released.
