CHATHAM, NJ - The way Stephanie Gallucci describes it, her father has been going to school and studying physical therapy all her life.

"He opened his first physical therapy facility when I was 10 years old," the Chatham High graduate said.

Twelve years later, John Gallucci Jr. has opened his 17th JAG Physical Therapy facility in his home town of Chatham. Although JAG Physical Therapy came to Chatham Borough last spring at 461 Main Street, the official ribbon cutting for the new facility was held Tuesday.

"It's been great to open here, living in the area and raising my kids in the area," John Gallucci, the president and CEO of JAG, said. "It's absolutely amazing. In the last four years, we've been working with Levin Management and our goal was to take this as one of our centerpiece locations. It's a little bigger than what we usually take. Most facilities are 3,000 square feet, this is 4,000 square. We have a staff room in the back and a place where we can do education."

"I believe that everybody needs to live their passions and dreams," Gallucci said. "When I was 18, 19 years old and dating my current wife (Dawn) of 27 years, I put together a plan of our goals. Our plan was to own a physical therapy company that serviced the community. We put the patients first, business second. Our goal is to truly be an educational and preventive resource to the community.

"Our company has grown based on the communities of New Jersey assisting us on getting the word out on appropriate physical therapy care. New Jerseyans have adopted JAG Physical Therapy tremendously, based on the outcomes that we get. When you have corporations, large health care organizations that consider you the gold standard of physical therapy care, it's a great feather in your cap."

The first JAG Physical Therapy opened in West Orange and the other New Jersey locations other than Chatham are Warren, Cedar Knolls, Hackensack, Union, Woodbridge, Princeton, Fairfield, Old Bridge, Holmdel, Brick and Wayne. In New York, JAG sites include New York City, Hawthorne, Sleepy Hollow and Yonkers.

"JAG integrated education and injury prevention,"  Gallucci said. "We do programs on any type of prevention you can do and we also run a rehab program. What's next after physical therapy? Nobody wants to be limping. Once you get them back to normal, how do you integrate back into your normal fitness routine, your walking routine, whatever it is.

"The other thing is that we treat pediatric cases, all the way up to geriatric cases. What's great about JAG Physical Therapy is that we have a comprehensive program, where we try to treat everybody."
