Tax preparation is provided through the AARP Tax Aide program using IRS trained volunteers.  The program will run through Thursday April 14th.  Although homebound appointments are no longer available, family members may drop off the returns of the homebound at the Senior Center for the tax preparers.  Returns will be e-filed insuring greater accuracy and faster refunds.

It is important that clients bring a copy of their last year’s income tax return(s),  all W-2 forms, unemployment compensation statements, SSA 1099 form if paid Social Security benefits, all 1099s showing interest, dividends and documentation showing original purchase price of sold assets, 1099-MISC showing miscellaneous income, 1099-R if received pension or annuity, all forms indicating federal income tax paid, dependent care provider information, all receipts or canceled checks if itemizing deductions, Social Security cards or other official documentation for yourself and all dependents.

Senior bus transportation is available for Chatham senior citizens, but the tax program itself is offered to all area residents.  For bus transportation call 973-635-4565 no later than 2 pm the day before your trip.   The Center is located in the lower section of the Chatham Township Municipal Building.
