Chatham Softball Wins Highlander Showdown: Now 5-0

BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Melissa Landry pitched a 3-hitter in the opener, a 2-0 softball victory over Gov. Livingston, and Bonnie Kennedy and Sarah McCabe sparked the offense in the final when Chatham defeated Parsippany, 6-3, to with the 2016 Highlander Showdown on Sunday.

In the tournament opener for Chatham (5-0) vs. Gov. Livingston sophomore shortstop Camryn Davies and freshman first baseman McCabe each drove in a run in the top of the first and Landry (3-0) made it stand up with her shutout pitching. Landry struck out eight and walked two.

Davies had two hits, including a double, and scored on McCabe's base hit in the first to make it 2-0.

In the championship game against Parsippany, second baseman Kennedy had three hits, including a triple, stole a base and scored twice. McCabe also tripled for the Lady Cougars and ended with two hits and two RBI.

Freshman pitcher Anna Lengner pitched the distance to defeat Parsippany. She struck out four and walked none, allowing 10 hits and three runs.

Third baseman Hallie Pellegrin and catcher Kelly Krincek each had two hits, a run scored and an RBI to back Lengner. Davies scored a run, drove in one and stole a base.
