NORTH CALDWELL, NJ - West Essex pushed across three runs in the first inning and held on for a 3-2 softball win over Chatham, which had a six-game winning streak snapped Wednesday at West Essex.

Senior center fielder Bonnie Kennedy singled and doubled for Chatham (6-2), scoring runs in the third and fifth innings. Camryn Davies and Morgan Pellegrin each produced a single and an RBI for Chatham. Melissa Landry struck out six in pitching the distance for the Lady Cougars.

Alexa Vardiman and Julia Vardiman each had two hits and a run scored for West Essex (7-1). Bridget Betley pitched a four-hitter to win it.
