CHATHAM, NJ - Despite the "shifting and changing landscape" of the Coronavirus pandemic, Chatham Superintendent Michael LaSusa reiterated the plan to get children back to school in September at the BOE meeting held Monday night.
"Guiding principles are that children belong in schools and being online can't fully replicate the experience that students have in schools with their classmates, with their teachers," LaSusa said. "So our goal aligns with the American Academy of Pediatrics' goal of having all students in school every day. What we need to do is figure out as safe a way as possible."
The board approved Policy 2270 titled Religion in Schools. The policy mandates that if a student needs a time to pray during school hours, the district must provide the space to do it ... the Chatham Performing Arts Boosters made a $7,000 donation to the district, providing funds for the purchase of trumpets, trombones, violas and other musical equipment.
