CHATHAM, NJ - Residents of Chatham Township cut the ribbon on the new "Hillside Trail" on Saturday. The nature trail is located a few hundred yards above the Hillside Avenue/River Road intersection.
"Visitors are welcome to begin a nature walk with pretty views over a roughly 1/3-mile figure-eight loop," Chatham Township resident Joe Basralian, chairman of the open space committee, said.
Those who helped make the Hillside Trail a reality were Mike Chidlovsky, Basralian, Chatham Township Committee member Mike Kelly, Marie Field, Girl Scout Gold Award candidate, Trey Helman, Eagle Scout candidate, Eagle Scout Vincent Maddi, and Abigail Maddi of the open space committee.
Also in attendance at the ribbon cutting were Chatham Township Mayor Curt Ritter, John Schwenke, former resident of the property, Sharon Brackelmanns, who performed an original song on her accordion for the occasion, and Chatham Township Deputy Mayor Kevin Sullivan.
