Chatham Township Police: Green Village Firefighter Transported to Hospital after Joseph Street House Fire

CHATHAM, NJ - Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, 10:43 p.m. Chatham Township Police Officers were dispatched to 1 Joseph Street for a reported structure fire. Officer Michael Bloom, first on the scene, reported heavy smoke and flames in the right corner of the single-family home and all of the residents safely outside.

The Green Village, Chatham Township, Chatham Borough and Summit Fire Departments responded along with the Chatham Emergency Squad. The fire departments aggressively attacked the fire, quickly bringing it under control.

One Green Village Firefighter was transported to Morristown Medical Center by the Chatham Emergency Squad for an unknown medical reason.

Chatham Township Fire Official Christopher Slay deemed the home uninhabitable and arrangements were made for the residents to spend the night at an area hotel.

The Chatham Township Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office and Morris County Sheriffs Department. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
