CHATHAM, NJ - One person leaving the event stated: "I loved it."
That pretty much summed up the feeling by those in attendance after the successful transition from the Library of the Chathams to Reasoner Park for the fifth annual Christmas Tree lighting held in Chatham on Saturday night.
The event, sponsored by Town & Country Properties featured performances by the Third-Grade Chorus, Dance Innovations, an appearance by Santa Claus and the tree lighting.
The Chatham Historical Society provided hot chocolate and the Girl Scouts and Town & Country Garden Club handed out snacks while Chatham Local PBA 226 gave out complimentary glow sticks to all in attendance.
"It's amazing," Christine Grobert, doling out hot chocolate for the Chatham Historical Society, said. "Talk about a great way to get yourself in the mood for the holidays. You can't beat downtown Chatham on the holidays with the white lights. Just look around, this is what Chatham is all about. A great event."
Children got a chance to meet Santa Claus, who handed out candy canes before the more formal part of the event began.
"My daughter is very excited to see Santa," Chatham attendee Ashley Maher said. "This year is the first time for her."
