CHATHAM, NJ - Chatham voters have approved the school budget by a 2-1 margin.
According to the official numbers, released Wednesday afternoon, 1,690 residents of the Chathams voted in favor of the budget, while 829 were opposed.
The other two ballot measures also passed. The question of whether to enhance the district's counseling staff passed, with 1,401 in favor and 1,105 opposed. The measure regarding increased security in schools also was approved, with 1,292 voting in favor and 1,209 opposed.
Out of 13,676 voters eligible to vote in the election, 2,531 voted, or 18.51 percent.
