CHATHAM, NJ - The 9th annual Chatham Turkey Trot had nearly 1,000 participants and raised more than $27,000 on Thanksgiving Day.

Since the first Turkey Trot held in 2009, the run has raised more than $125,000, benefiting the Chatham Township Volunteer Fire Department, the Chatham Emergency Squad and the Barton Center for Diabetes Education.

"We thank our runners, sponsors, the DPW, Fire Department, EMS, and others who made this such a success," Curt Ritter, president of the Chatham Turkey Trot, said. "We’ll see you in 2018!”

In the Turkey Trot 5K race, Alec Gironda won the men's division in 17:53 and Sarah Abbott was the first woman to cross in 20:42.

The under-13 boys winner was Ryan Beegle and the girls winner was Reilly Cross.

In the One Mile Family Fun Run, Charlie Kulp was the first boy to finish and Nicki Grossman led the girls.
