Chatham's Gaba Named Morris County Girls Basketball Coach of the Year; Won First County Tournament, Gained 400th Win

MOUNTAIN LAKES, NJ - Joe Gaba's coaching peers went up to the podium one-by-one and referenced the Chatham girls basketball coach's affinity for statistics at the annual Morris County Girls Basketball Coaches Association awards luncheon held on Wednesday at the Zeris Inn.

Hanover Park coach Doug Wear got a chance to reel off some impressive numbers that he had compiled pertaining to the Chatham coach, noting that Gaba has won 412 games over his 21 years, an average of nearly 20 wins per year.

But the big statistic was No. 1 - Chatham's first Morris County Tournament Championship won this season in the 41st year of the MCT.

According to Wear, Gaba was the unanimous choice for Morris County Coach of the Year honors and also was recognized for reaching 400 career wins - all at Chatham.
