Chatham's Rooney Joins Unity Bank's Management Team

Unity Bank has expanded its Commercial Lending Department hiring Michael A. Novak and Stephen F. Rooney, bringing nearly 70 years of cumulative finance experience to the bank’s lending services and its management team. Novak is Senior Vice President/Senior Commercial Loan Officer and Rooney is Senior Vice President/Chief Credit Officer.

Hughes. “They both bring extensive experience working with businesses throughout the region, which will be a valuable asset to current and future customers. We take great pride in providing businesses of all shapes and sizes not only the full range of commercial lending services, but a personalized banking experience so Michael and Steve are very important additions to our staff.”

A Flemington resident, Novak is responsible for maintaining and growing the bank’s commercial loan portfolio while providing prompt and reliable customer service. He previously was with Fulton Bank of New Jersey and several financial institutions throughout the region. He received an M.B.A. in Finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a B.A. in Business Administration from Bloomfield College.

A Chatham resident, Rooney is a senior credit and finance professional who previously worked within Standard & Poor’s Structured Finance Division, as well as several regional commercial banks. He is responsible for Unity Bank’s credit functions, including: credit underwriting, loan closing and loan review. Rooney is a Member of the Board of Directors of Village Super Market, Inc. He received an M.B.A. in Finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business and a B.S. in Business Administration from Providence College.
