SPARTA, NJ - Senior guards Mac Bredahl and Jack Rooney scored 15 points apiece on Tuesday night when the Chatham boys basketball team erased a 14-point halftime deficit and defeated Pope John, 66-57.
Pope John (7-7) took a 32-18 lead into the halftime break, but Chatham (10-3) answered with a 28-10 run in the third quarter. The Cougars outscored Pope John, 48-25, over the final two quarters.
"We really defended and rebounded in the second half," Chatham coach Todd Ervin said. "It was a real balanced scoring game for us."
Chris Conlin (12 points), Bredahl and Rooney each finished with two 3-pointers made in the game for Chatham, which connected on eight shots from beyond the arc in the game. Daniel Baker scored 11 points to give Chatham four players in double-digit scoring. Aaron Clarke led all scorers with 26 points for Pope John.
