CHATHAM, NJ - Alexandra Gonzalez, a rising sophomore at the County College of Morris, was recently hired to broadcast Chatham Township Committee meetings to the public—her first broadcast took place on Thursday night.
The 19-year-old from Madison is studying broadcasting and hopes to take what she’s learned in her first year at school and apply it to this real-world experience.
“This is the time to put everything I learned in my media studies and TV production classes into action,” Gonzalez said.
Gonzalez’s new broadcasting gig is her first step into the broadcasting world, aside from the Youtube channel she runs.
“I’m really excited, but also nervous,” Gonzalez said. “Tonight’s meeting is supposed to have a lot more people than usual, but I’m excited.”
She took over for Tom Salvas, who retired after 10 years and 225 broadcasts of the Chatham Township Committee.
