Dennerlein Wins Two Gold Medals for Chatham Boys Track at Morris County Frosh/Soph Meet

DENVILLE, NJ - Chatham freshman Sam Dennerlein won both the shot put and the discus at the Morris County Frosh/Soph boys track meet held Monday at Morris Knolls High School.

Dennerlein won the freshman shot put with a throw of 40 feet one inch and also won the freshman discus with a personal-best throw of 129 feet, one inch.

The Chatham Freshman team finished fifth place as a team with 29 points.

Ryan Storm, fourth place in pole vault in a personal record of 9 feet; Alec Gironda, sixth place in the 1,600 in a personal record of 4:44.66; Mike Culleton, fourth place in the 400 in a personal record of 55.31; 

Other Chatham Freshman performances of note:

Chris Mojares, 12th in the long jump with a personal record of 12 feet; Matt Fortuna, 12th place in the javelin with a personal record of 92 feet; Kevin Ferreira, eighth place in discus with throw of 88 feet, 3 inches and eighth place in intermediate hurdles in a personal record of 68.73; Sam Viola, seventh place in the 200 in a personal record time of 24.92; Ryan Varca, ninth place in a personal record time of 19.17; Jason Furda, seventh place in the intermediate hurdles in a personal record time of 67.99, and Aidan Christie ninth place in the intermeiate hurdles in a personal record time of 68.77.

The Chatham Sophomore finished with 12 points.

Chatham Sophomore Medal Winners:

John Romano, sixth in the intermediate hurdles in a personal record of 64.08; Julian de Keyzer, third place in the pole vault with a personal record of 10 feet, 6 inches; Matt Saluti, tied for fourth place in the pole vault with a personal record of 10 feet, 6 inches, and Aidan Joel, fifth place in the 200 in a personal record time of 24.27.

Colin Petrullo, ninth place in the long jump with a personal record of 17 feet, 9 inches; Aedan Joel, 11th place in the long jump with a personal record of 17 feet, 7 inches and seventh in the 100 in a personal record of 11.98; John Romero, 15th place in the long jump with a personal record of 17 feet, 1 1/4 inches; Sebastian LoPiano, 14th in the javelin with a personal record of 95 feet, 3 inches, and Yuwen Zhang, 7th in the 1,600 in a personal record of 4:52.49.
