MADISON, NJ - Now that's enthusiasm. Madison was abuzz yesterday when the 2015 farmers market opened at their new location on Central Ave.

Kicked off with the annual ribbon cutting, Mayor Bob Conley dressed as a perfect Jersey tomato greeted Madisonians and happy shoppers from neighboring towns as they walked the new market space.

"The expansion is just great," said Conley.  "It is a beautiful day and the new location will allow us to expand the market this year to include more vendors and special events."

The real star here though was all the fresh Jersey fruit and vegetables available.  After what seemed like an endless winter market shoppers were happy to be able to enjoy the nice weather and the produce available this time of year.

Yesterday featured a childrens choir performance as well as the new "Health, Wellness and Beauty" sections being run by local businesses and the Chamber of Commerce to provide added benefits and value to mark goers.

The Madison Farmers market will run through October from 2p.m. to 7p.m. every Thursday.

To the Editor,

I told my daughter I needed to write about gun violence. Know what she told me? “Mom, be sure you’re not too polarizing. People won’t listen.” She’s right. At age eleven she’s figured out that we adults need to be reminded how to speak to one another in order to fix a problem. But I have hope and belief that we can fix that discourse in our ...
