MADISON, NJ - Nick Ferrone broke his own Chatham High school record in the 55-meter dash, placing third in 6.83 at the Cliff Back Invitational held at Drew University on Friday.

Ferrone set the previous mark of 6.84 during a meet December.

Chatham senior Ed Dennerlein won the shot put with a throw of 49 feet, 8 1/4 inches and Grant Hauck ran third in the 3200 meters in 10:02.43.

Other highlights for Chatham included Steve Bondurich, who cleared 10 feet in the pole vault for a personal record, finishing sixth. Bondurich also ran sixth in the 400-meter race in 53.69.

Kevin Gesell placed sixth in the 800 in 2:04.57 and fifth in the 400 in 53.23. Will Mitchell finished third in the 1000 in 2:43.

Frosh Shot Put: Max Benedict;  5th at 31 feet, 11.5 inches
