"First Lady of Chatham Township," 100-Year-Old Chatham Icon Alice Lundt Passes Away

SUMMIT, NJ - Alice Lundt, longtime Chatham Township clerk/administrator, died Monday in Overlook Hospital at the age of 100.

"She was truly the First Lady of Chatham Township," Kevin Sullivan, Chatham Township Committee member, said. "She will be missed."

A 64-year resident of Chatham Township, Lundt served as clerk/administrator for the Township from 1964 through 1989 and was responsible for the furnishings inside the municipal building at 58 Meyersville Rd.

"She's left a lasting impression with all the wonderful things she's done for Chatham Township," Sullivan said. "You look at her for service in the town, both professionally and personally, what she's done for the senior center, the library, the historical society. A remarkable, amazing, lady." 

Lundt turned 100 last Aug. 10 and was honored by the Chatham Township Committee with a proclamation at that time.
