CHATHAM, NJ - Freshman guard Tess Ford scored a team-high 16 points and junior guard Michaela Ford hit two clutch free throws to force overtime as Chatham rallied to win its first girls basketball game of the season, 47-38, over Jefferson on Wednesday night.

Senior Veronica Kelly finished with 11 points for Chatham (1-2) and sparked an 8-0 run in overtime when she sank two free throws to give the Lady Cougars a 41-39 edge.

Jefferson (1-2) took a 24-15 lead in the first half and held a 35-26 advantage entering the fourth quarter before Chatham put together a 13-4 run to tie the game at 39-39. Veronica Kelly's 3-pointer cut the deficit to 37-34. Nicole Lemieux's basket put the Falcons ahead 39-34 before Tess Ford answered with a 3-pointer.

Michaela Ford, who scored 10 of her 13 points from the foul line, drained two free throws with 2.5 seconds showing to tie the game and prompt the extra session. Chatham scored all eight of its points on free throws in the overtime while holding Jefferson scoreless.

Maddie Hartnett also contributed to the win for the Lady Cougars with three steals in the second half. Taylor Langan paced Jefferson with 19 points, 15 of which came in the first half.
