CHATHAM, NJ - Chatham artist Yolanda Fundora is being featured as the solo exhibitor in the Spring show, sponsored by the Art League of the Chathams, from Sunday, March 16-June 10 in the Lundt- Glover Gallery at the
Chatham Township Municipal Building, 58 Meyersville Road.

Fundora was born in Havana, Cuba, and grew up in New York City. She studied at the College of Visual And Performing Arts, Syracuse University. She lived in Puerto Rico for ten years where she pursued her art career. Since 1985 when she acquired her first MAC computer, she has been executing art in the digital realm.

She has participated in two major shows at the Museum of Contemporary Art in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The first, in 1990, was Art and Communication explored the use of modern technology as media for contemporary art. The second of these, Toward a Digital Aesthetic:

The Art of Fundora emphasized the unique characteristics that digital production brings to the visual arts. Fundora’s work forms part of many private corporate collections including the Museum of Contemporary Art’s permanent collection.

A Garden Alphabetized (for your viewing pleasure), which appeared in 2008, was co-authored with botanical writer, Maria McDowell. The creation is based on Fundora's digital print series by the same name. In addition to her fine art, Fundora designs textiles, illustrates children’s books and works with local businesses to create their unique branding. Her current work, digitally imagined, is on display in her Journey's Gallery, located at Mondo, on Springfield Avenue, in Summit.

The current exhibit also titled Toward a Digital Aesthetic: The Art of Yolanda Victoria Fundora, which is currently on display in the Chatham Township Municipal Building contains most of the basics in the new book by the same title, a book which chronicles the last nine months of her digital imagery and is available through Amazon.com.

Other artists, all members of The Art League of the Chathams, will also be exhibiting their work in the Gallery, which will be on display through June 10. Admission to the show is free and available to the public during business hours of Chatham Township Municipal Building.

A reception, also open to the public, will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, March 16, in the Gallery. Her web site is www.urban-amish.com

Clearly, we found the Library and local educational opportunities to our liking.

When it came to giving back to the community, I chose to support the Library and served as a Board member for 15 ...
