CHATHAM, NJ - Tropical Storm Isaias knocked out power for thousands of Chatham Township residents on Tuesday, with approximately 2,300 residents losing power, according to a report from JCP&L on the township website.

Huron Drive residents have been informed that work to restore power lines may not be completed until Tuesday, Aug. 11, according to former mayor and Huron Drive resident Curt Ritter.

"A tree came down and with it wires and a telephone pole," Ritter said in an email. "The entire block, about 40 homes, is without power, and we learned this evening that restoration may not be complete until next Tuesday the 11th.

"Trees remain across driveways and the street itself and no one from JCP&L has been out to inspect the situation and residents now have to navigate around wires. A dangerous situation to say the least."
