Dear Editor,

I am writing to support Stacey McEvoy for Chatham Borough Council.

In the fourteen years Stacey McEvoy has been my neighbor and friend, I have seen her in a wide variety of circumstances, from caring for newborns to parenting teenagers, balancing graduate school at Columbia with being the primary caregiver for three children, and surviving multiple power outages, career changes, and even a hurricane. Throughout it all, Stacey’s integrity and strong character have shown through. I have been consistently impressed with her demeanor: calm, resolute, optimistic, and engaging, no matter what life brings her.

In addition, Stacey is one of the best listeners I’ve ever met. As Councilwoman she will come to the job not with a preset agenda but rather will represent the voice of the people, taking input from all different angles before coming to a conclusion. Through her volunteer work at Chatham Bridging the Gap, Chatham United, and the Madison-Chatham coalition, her jobs writing for Chatham Living and handling PR for the Madison Area Y, and her experience as a parent both at St. Pat's and in Chatham public schools, Stacey has access to an extensive personal network that covers all segments of our town. I am confident she will actively use these relationships to seek input on the issues that matter to all of us. Stacey has also built strong connections with the Madison Mayor and Town Council through her work at the Y and her many years as a beat reporter. As our representative, Stacey will be able to leverage these relationships on all joint projects between our towns (e.g., traffic management) to help secure the best possible outcomes for Chatham.

I know Stacey McEvoy to be a hard-working, reliable, smart, compassionate, and dedicated member of our community. I urge my fellow residents to vote for her on November 5th .
