CHATHAM, NJ - Lafayette School has earned bronze status certification by "Sustainable Jersey" it was announced by Chatham Superintendent Dr. Michael LaSusa at the meeting of the board of education on Monday night.
According to LaSusa, it is the first school in the district to earn certification and it gives Chatham more opportunity to apply for grants.
Sustainable Jersey for Schools is a program that recognizes state public schools that are implementing "green" policies and conserve resources.
According to the Sustainable Jersey for Schools website, there are 194 certified schools in New Jersey, 181 at the bronze level and 13 which have reached silver certification.
