An award was given to Lafayette School on Saturday evening, June 16, at the Community Foodbank of New Jersey's annual Blue Jean Ball.
Lafayette School was one of 13 groups and individuals to receive the HOPE Award. Fourteen years ago Jim Donough, a fifth grade Lafayette teacher, started the Lafayette School and Community Foodbank partnership. In those 14 years, approximately 11,250 students and staff have contributed 16,750 volunteer hours.
In addition to the volunteer hours, the Lafayette Family has raised $48,640.62 to help feed hungry people in New Jersey. The award was in given in honor of all of the work and contributions that Lafayette School has made to the Foodbank over the past 14 years. The event raised more than 1.1 million dollars towards helping to solve the issue of food insecurity in New Jersey.
