Water & Wine in Watchung will celebrate its eleventh year of service during the month of August, 2015. Along with La Griglia in Kenilworth, these restaurants are the pride and joy of proprietors and brothers Chris and John Tocci, who also serves as executive chef.
To me, dining at Water & Wine is much like having dinner with friends and family in the comfort of your own home,” said Rita Nordberg who has been a member of the staff for five years. “Part of why people continually return to the restaurant, is the family-friendly staff. We do our best to not only remember our clientele by name, we take pride in recalling the foods they like to eat, and where they like to sit.”
Entering the attractive lobby replete with a happening bar and roaring fireplace, guest frequently stop to chat with Bartender Diago Martinez. “Everyone that visits Water and Wine, returns, because of their hospitality,” he said.
“We are continually monitoring our wine collection,” said Chris Tocci, who is responsible for selecting, aging, and coordinating, their massive wine library.
“You can be sure that our knowledgeable staff will suggest the perfect wine to compliment your meal.”
“Sunday is special, because families do make the effort to visit the restaurant,” said Maitre‘d James Cuomo. “Sunday dinner starts at 1 p.m. Folks drive up from the Shore, or Pennsylvania. They come from Delaware, New York, and believe it or not, Merrick, Long Island. We believe they come because they love the cuisine, the personal attention, and the environment.”
"People treat Water & Wine as extended members of their family, John Tocci said.
“They’ll arrive and celebrate their anniversary, their children’s birthdays, a special memory, or just because it’s a sunny day, and all is well in their lives.”
Menu favorites include: Seafood salad, imported Burrata cheese, steak, filet mignon, Diver scallops, Cajun calamari and broiled crab cakes. Don’t laugh, but I’ve seen folks scarfing down their char-broiled burgers.
While every effort is made to keep the cost of your luncheon or dinner down, Water and Wine offers a fine dining experience. It is rare that you’ll leave spending less than $100 for dinner for two. However, considering the ambiance, the fine level of cuisine, your glass of wine, or your cocktail, plus the service, the price meets the value.
Do go with a full heart, and enjoy the entire experience. Remember, You're Worth It!
