The Masterwork Chorus holds Fall 2018 auditions by appointment on Wednesday evenings, September 12th and 19th, at Chatham United Methodist Church (CUMC), 460 Main Street, Chatham, NJ. Openings are available in all voice parts, however, tenors and basses are especially encouraged to join. Contact Don MacGowan at (973) 479-4020 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Other arrangements may be made if necessary.
During the audition, singers will be asked to vocalize, carry out pitch – and rhythm – matching exercises, sight read in a four-part piece and, optionally, sing a prepared selection. Previous choral experience is highly desirable. Prospective singers are invited to the chorus’ first rehearsal on September 5, 2018 to acquaint themselves with singers and rehearsal style. All rehearsals take place at CUMC on Wednesdays from 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm.
December will be jam-packed with The Masterwork Chorus Holiday Concert of Carols, the annual Messiah Sing-Along, and, of course, The Masterwork Chorus and Orchestra’s annual performances of Handel’s Messiah at Carnegie Hall and at The Dorothy Young Performing Arts Center, Drew University, Madison, NJ. March will feature a collaboration with the Worcester (MA) Chorus of Verdi’s monumental Requiem, followed by a reprise of the choral sections in Chatham. The season will conclude in May with a performance titled Voices and Strings, highlighted by Hayden’s Lord Nelson Mass.
Masterwork Chorus is over 100 voices. Founded in 1955, the non-profit chorus is dedicated to enrich, delight and support the cultural life of the community through high-quality inspiring choral performances. For more information please visit www.masterwork.org
