MOUNTAIN LAKES, NJ - Catherine McNiff picked up a team-leading five ground balls and scored the winning goal in Chatham's 8-7 girls lacrosse victory over Mountain Lakes on Thursday.

Mountain Lakes (0-6) built a 6-2 lead in the first half before the Lady Cougars (5-2) battled back to score six goals in the second half to win it. McNiff's 8-meter shot broke the 7-7 tie with 5:11 left and Tessa Luzi caused a late turnover that helped Chatham ride out the victory.

"We just really turned it on in the second half," Chatham coach Hilary Renna said. "Catherine McNiff won 9 draw controls on the game, and we really did a great job working together and making each possession count. When Mountain Lakes did get the ball, we came up with some big stops on defense with caused turnovers by Michelle Connolly and Tessa Luzi."

Emilie de Keyzer sparked the Chatham comeback, finishing with four goals and two assists. Zoe Kraus netted two goals for Chatham, which also received a goal from Abby Morgan. Kat Friday was credited with three saves in goal for the Lady Cougars.
