CHATHAM, NJ - The Chatham Board of Education said it wanted to find money in its budget to hire a second full-time athletic trainer. That goal became a reality about three weeks ago with the hiring of Andre Mendoza, who joins athletic trainer Mike Colavita.
Board member Michelle Clark advocated for a second athletic trainer at the BOE meeting held last March.
Mendoza, 28, interned at Jets camp in the summer of 2015 and most recently served for the women's professional soccer team Sky Blue FC. He has a B.S. degree from Kean University and is a state-licensed athletic trainer.
"The coaches are great and the kids are super respectful," Mendoza said. "You can't ask for much more than that."
