A formidable defense and strong offense combined to lift Chatham 6th-grade lacrosse over Millburn, 7-3, on Sunday afternoon.  Defense, led by goalie Drew Mitzak, put on a remarkable performance holding Millburn to only 3 goals while defenseman Charles Cuneo and Peter Schelling locked down the Millburn offense and created multiple turnovers.

Chatham’s offense, led by attackman Aidan Davenport with 4 goals, capitalized on each opportunity.  This heads-up offense also created additional scoring opportunities with Trey Von Heill, Danny Mahoney and Connor Cook each putting a goal on the scoreboard.

“We won the ground balls and worked as a team," Coach Davenport said. "Defense created the turnovers and offense capitalized on them.  I couldn’t ask for a better game with every player on the team contributing to today’s win.”

Coach Von Heill agreed adding “A well-coached aggressive Millburn could not keep pace with our boys today.”

Dear Editor:
