Chatham High School will host an Author Meet and Greet for the entire community from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m., also on Saturday.

Julie Segal Walters will drive from Washington, D.C. to speak on a panel of debut authors. “This gives me hope, and hope is everything,” Walters said.

Young adult novelist and Chatham native Yvonne Ventresca will make the shortest journey. “I’m thrilled that such an innovative event as Nerd Camp is happening right here in Chatham,” Ventresca said. “This provides an amazing opportunity for educators and authors to learn, network and discuss their mutual love of good books.”

Five Chatham High School students will participate with teachers and administrators in a workshop titled “Incorporating Meaningful, Relevant and Pleasurable Independent Reading at the Secondary Level.”

The Curious Reader, an independent bookstore based in Glen Rock, will have over 2,000 books for sale in the Chatham High School library from 8 a.m. until 1:45 p.m., and authors will sign their picture books, chapter books and young adult books.

Online pre-orders will close on May 17th. For further information about Nerd Camp New Jersey or the Author Meet and Greet, visit the event website.
