CHATHAM, NJ - The $1.4 million capital improvement to Chatham's Cougar Field is now underway, with construction of the new bleachers as part of the project, which will also include a walking path and a new snack shack.

A bulldozer was clearing dirt to make way for the foundation of the new bleachers on Saturday. Cougar Field is one of six capital improvement projects approved by taxpayers during a special election held last September. The total expenditure on the six capital improvement projects is $12 million.

There also will be a new scoreboard at Cougar Field, courtesy of a nearly $100,000 donation from the Chatham High Athletic Boosters Club.
