Roos Breaks 11-Year-Old Chatham School Record in the High Hurdles Held by McCullough; de Keyzer 2nd in Pole Vault

MIDDLETOWN, NJ - Kristian Roos set a school record in the 110-meter high hurdles, placing third, and Julian de Keyzer finished second in the pole vault, helping Chatham place fifth as a team at the Group 3 boys state sectional track & field meet held Friday and Saturday at Middletown North High.

Roos clocked 15.13 in the high hurdles to eclipse the school mark of 15.20 that was established by Scott McCullough in 2007, also at the state sectional meet. De Keyzer cleared 11 feet, 6 inches in the pole vault.

Also helping Chatham accumulate 37 points was Sam Dennerlein, who set a personal record of 49 feet, 11.5 inches in the shot put to place third, and Colin Logsdon, who ran 9:30.9 in the 3,200 meters to finish third.

Logsdon also ran fifth in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:24.96 and Dennerlein gained fifth place in the discus with a throw of 148 feet, 7 inches.

Chatham's 4x800 relay team of Liam Cadden, Jack Burns, Alex Williams, and Anthony Scerbo beat their best time by 36 seconds, clocking 8:10.99 to place fourth.

Placing sixth for Chatham was Avery Brown with a 22.7 time in the 200-meter dash and Liam Cadden with a time of 1:59.9 in the 800-meter race.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Michael Culleton, Jack Burns, Anthony Scerbo, and Sam Viola ran their best time of the season to place sixth in 3:28.56.

Setting Personal Records for Chatham were:

Kevin Ferreira; High Hurdles; 16.84

Ivan Rozhkov: Javelin; 132 feet, 2 inches (16-foot improvement.)

Sam Viola: 400 meters; 51.47

Alex Williams: 3200; 10:09.81

Alec Gironda:1600: 4:40.86
