BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ – December 17, 2017 – Summit Medical Group Foundation welcomes students ages 17 to 20 to attend an open house for the Exploring program. This is an exciting opportunity for local residents and their parents. Please join members of Summit Medical Group Foundation on Wednesday, December 20, at 7:30 p.m. at Summit Medical Group Berkeley Heights Campus, 1 Diamond Hill Rd, Berkeley Heights, N.J. There is only space for the 25 registrants.
The Exploring program, partnering with Summit Medical Group Foundation, gives young adults an opportunity to “explore” possible careers in nursing, radiology, health care, physical therapy, and more by working and training with members of Summit Medical Group in exercises and activities. The program emphasizes academics, character development and self-discipline, and encourages participants to give back to the community.
The open house is a great opportunity for students and parents to join or learn more about the program. Refreshments will be served. Interested students should attend with a parent or guardian. Those attending should RSVP by December 18th at http://bit.ly/smgfall17. The Explorer Post will be limited to 20 students only.
The event will be held in the Summit Medical Group Berkeley Heights Campus Cafeteria next to Bensley Pavilion.
Exploring offers opportunities to participate in hands-on projects that give youth a real feel for whether a career is the right one for them. Participants will have a chance to network with professionals who work in health care careers every day, are using the latest technology, are aware of emerging trends, and know what it takes to get into college for a specific career, including the educational requirements. Students will also receive tangible one-one-one advice about steps they can take now to prepare and position themselves for a successful career in their chosen health field.

Exploring is a worksite-based program of Learning for Life, a subsidiary of the Boy Scouts of America, for young men and women who are 14 through 20 years old (15 through 21 in some areas). Exploring units, called "posts", usually have a focus on a single career field, such as police, fire/rescue, emergency medical services, healthcare, law, aviation, engineering, or the like, and may be sponsored by a government or business entity.
