CHATHAM, NJ - The third annual Sunshine Striders 1-Mile Fun Run is set to take place in Chatham on Saturday, Sept. 30.

The event is free, with a suggested donation of $25 per participant. Each kid participant (that registers before Sept. 15) will receive a t-shirt and a medal at the finish line. The race begins and ends at the Leach house on 208 Longwood Ave.

And for more family fun, there will be bounce houses, face painting, tattoos and a DJ at the home of David and Kelly Leach, following the race.

Kelly Leach, a cancer survivor, came up with the idea for the Sunshine Striders run to allow kids to contribute toward the "Cycle for Survival" fundraisers held each February and March. In the past two years, this kids/family event has raised close to $30,000 in support of the Pedaling Sunshine team.

Pedaling Sunshine's Cycle for Survival national team has raised over $500,000 for rare cancer research in just two years.
