Survivor Ken Griffey Sr. to Speak at Chatham's CSM Art & Frame on World Cancer Day

Former baseball player for the Cincinnati Reds and New York Yankees, Ken Griffey Sr., will speak at CSM Art & Frame on World Cancer Day Credits: CSM Art & Frame

CHATHAM, NJ - Cancer Survivor and a member of two World Series championship teams, Ken Griffey Sr., is set to speak at the cancer fundraiser from 5 to 8 pm. on Feb. 3 at CSM Art & Frame, 295 Main St. in Chatham.

CSM Art & Frame will once again partner with Oncology & Hematology Foundation, Inc. (OHS) to benefit the organization that offers educational resources to families coping with cancer, along with integrative services to improve patient outcomes.

Former Cincinnati Reds and New York Yankees outfielder and three-time All-Star Ken Griffey Sr. is attending the event to talk on behalf of Bayer’s Men Who Speak Up, a nationwide movement that raises the collective voices of prostate cancer – the doctors who treat it, the patients and caregivers who live it, and the advocacy groups who support them.

Griffey, who won two World Series titles with the Reds in 1975 and 1976, is a prostate cancer survivor who has experienced the impact of this illness in his family for many years.

“I’ve lost four uncles to prostate cancer," Griffey said. "It was a common topic in our home. Despite how much we’d talked about prostate cancer…when it came to my diagnosis, I was surprised by how hard it became to speak up.”

A $25 donation gives guests the opportunity to spend the evening at the gallery enjoying exquisite artwork, light refreshments, and more. The goal of the event is to unite the community of patients, caregivers, family, and friends to enhance cancer awareness and education.

 “I am thrilled to join forces with OHS Foundation and Men Who Speak Up on World Cancer Day,” Caryn Krueger, gallery owner, said. “In addition to providing the space for an important conversation about this terrible disease, we are supporting programs that provide integrative healing services for oncology patients such as yoga, massage, aromatherapy, and nutrition.”

Krueger will also contribute 10 percent of proceeds from any artwork sold at the event.

CSM is a distinguished art and framing gallery in Chatham. Their collection consists of unique artwork on canvas and paper, sculpture, photography and mixed media. The showroom, which is located in a three-story carriage house, is home to over 6,000 frame samples and is open to both interior designers and the general public.
