TAPintoTravels - This may be a first for us, but stay home.

The storm over our New Jersey and New York affiliates left most roads snow covered and slippery.  Gov. Phil Murphy called a state of emergency and asked residents to refrain from unnecessary travel.  Over 1,400 flights were already canceled on Wednesday.

Other  Reports and Useful Information

Information in those planning to travel by air can be found here.

Westfield Police Chief David Wayman warned people earlier in the afternoon to stay indoors and off of the roads.

“We’re under a state of emergency and people should stay off the roads. The roadways are very slippery and hazardous,” Wayman said. “Due to the heavy snow, wires and trees are coming down around town, so people should remain in their homes to stay safe.”

Help the Department of Public Works with snow removal by removing your vehicle from the side of the road. Do not push snow from your driveway back onto the street and do not call 9-1-1 about snow removal from your street.

After the storm, remember to clear all snow and ice for your vehicle, sidewalks and fire hydrants.

Be prepared in case of power outages. Charge your electronics, get batteries, flashlights and candles ready.

Municipalities in Somerset County will offer warming centers at various locations during regular business hours on Wednesday and beyond as needed.

Clearly, we found the Library and local educational opportunities to our liking.

When it came to giving back to the community, I chose to support the Library and served as a Board member for 15 ...
