CHATHAM, NJ - Women should take their health to heart and Valentine's Day, Friday, Feb. 14, is a good day to do it by wearing red.

Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women and Chatham Mayor Bruce Harris has proclaimed Friday, Feb. 14 as "National Wear Red Day" in Chatham.

Smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high triglyceride levels, obesity and physical inactivity are just some of the things causing heart problems among women. The Mayor's Wellness Campaign is promoting "National Wear Red Day" to bring more awareness to heart disease.

Facts about heart health, courtesy of Barnabas Health, have been posted at the municipal building and the library to help women learn more about heart disease and how to keep their hearts healthy.
