To the Editor:
As a former Mayor and a member of Chatham's fire department for 60 years, I know that Chatham deserves a Mayor who knows our town well, has served the community selflessly, and will be fully committed to working on behalf of our residents. I believe Bob Weber is the right person for the job, and I encourage all residents, regardless of party affiliation, to support him with your vote next Tuesday.
I have known Bob Weber for many years as a dedicated father and outstanding Boy Scout leader who has been a positive role model for an entire generation of Chatham’s Scouts. I have long admired his tireless work ethic and commitment to Chatham through both volunteer service and a long public service career as an Assistant Morris County Prosecutor and as a substitute schoolteacher. Bob is known for achieving consensus on issues and challenges facing our community. As an example, Bob led the fight in Chatham to stop the NJ State legislature from legalizing marijuana and is a strong advocate for keeping pot shops and production facilities from ever operating in Chatham Borough.
Bob is a strong fiscal conservative who will honor the long Borough legacy of optimizing resident service while keeping property taxes stable, and exploring reasonable redevelopment opportunities to expand revenue sources to the Borough to maintain our police, DPW, and other services at necessary funding levels to keep our community safe and in good working order.
I believe it is important that we elect a person who will work hard to keep Chatham moving forward while preserving it as a wonderful small town infused with a sense of community spirit and volunteerism. I hope you join me on November 5th in electing Bob Weber Mayor of Chatham Borough.
