Weichert’s People-Centric Philosophy Drives Success 50 Years Later

CHATHAM, NJ – Fifty years ago, Jim Weichert set out with an innovative approach “people buy people before they buy your product or service” upon opening the first of the company’s many real estate offices in Chatham back in 1969.

It is a philosophy that continues to drive the realtor’s success in the industry as the largest family-owned real estate company

“The Weichert brand name is defined by our commitment to integrity and that has been a benchmark for our success over the years,” said Mary Weichert, who has been a broker associate with the company for nearly two decades. “Establishing a personal connection with our clients is so important to us because we are assisting them in the biggest decision of their lives.”

“Our name is our integrity and brand,” Mary added. “That is so important to us.”

A customized strategy is developed for each client -- whether a buyer or seller -- and that first stage of the process starts by identifying their needs and timeline. The Weichert team prides itself on transparency throughout the process and involving the client every step of the way, including a cohesive briefing about the marketing strategy for how the home will be sold. That process starts with a thorough walkthrough of the home and an appraisal to determine the valuation and selling expectations.

“Instilling trust in the real estate process – whether the client is a seller or buyer – has been a defining characteristic that we continue to pride ourselves on in each and every transaction,” explained John Tunny, a broker associate with 25 years of experience at Weichert and Mary’s brother. “Every case is unique so dealing with each client as an individual is important.”

The dynamic of buying and selling a home has evolved dramatically over the last decade, but Weichert’s commitment to customer experience has remained the same, according to Diane Walsh, Manager of the Weichert Chatham location. The emergence of social media and technology has taken over as the launching point for people seeking to buy or sell their home and it provides clients with more transparency throughout the process.

“While the evolution of social media and technology has helped, it is still about the people,” explained Walsh, who oversees the operations and listings. “It’s about integrity and ethics while helping provide the highest level of service to clients on their biggest investment.”

That integrity starts with putting the clients ahead of the bottom line.

“It’s easy for a broker associate to do what’s best for them economically, but it’s more important to do what’s best for the client,” Walsh added. “That’s the mentality that has allowed Weichert to maintain its longevity in the real estate space. In my decade and a half of experience, I’ve never seen agents work harder yet always try to do the right things for their clients.”

Throughout the last half century, Weichert has expanded globally in Europe, Asia, and Latin America while maintaining its local advantage. The real estate company has a presence in 40 states, and Weichert Workforce Mobility is one of the world’s leading global workforce mobility companies, making it faster, easier and more cost effective for clients to relocate key talent and transfer critical skills.

In fact, two years ago, Weichert Workforce Mobility was named Relocation Management Company of the Year by EMMA, one of the most prestigious awards in the real estate space.

"We are so excited that Weichert Workforce Mobility was just named Relocation Management Company of the Year again in 2018," Nicole Milluzzo, Director, Corporate Communications Weichert Realtors, said.

The family-owned real estate agency ranks as the 108th best place to work in America, according to Forbes.

Weichert’s long-standing commitment to servicing people has positioned itself as a leader in the real estate industry. If you’re in the market as a buyer or seller, find out more by visiting www.weichert.com or phone the Chatham office at 973-635-5000.
